Abstract
This study designs and develops a fall detection device for bathrooms using mmWave (DFRobot C1001) technology and BME680 environmental sensor to monitor temperature and humidity in real-time. The device is built to detect falls non-invasively and send alerts via the Blynk application. Testing was conducted in a real bathroom setting to evaluate performance based on accuracy, sensitivity, and coverage. Results showed that the mmWave sensor detected falls with 96% accuracy, 90.91% precision, 100% recall, and 93.33% specificity. The BME680 sensor recorded a Mean Absolute Error of 1.5°C for temperature and 7.67% for humidity, with a strong correlation to the reference measurement device. The system is proven to be accurate, reliable, and privacy-preserving, making it well-suited for monitoring elderly safety in high-risk bathroom environments.
