Abstract
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a global health issue, especially in tropical regions. The use of abate (temephos) as a chemical larvicide faces resistance, environmental concerns, and long-term toxicity. This study investigated the larvicidal potential against Aedes aegypti from parijoto (Medinilla speciosa Blume) fruit and leaves, which contain flavonoids, phenolics, tannins, saponins, and steroids. Methanol extraction used ultrasonic-assisted extraction (UAE) and tested at concentrations of 25, 50, 100, 200, and 400 μg/mL. The highest larval mortality occurred at 400 μg/mL, 90.67% (fruit) and 92% (leaf). LC50 for fruit and leaf extracts were 161.809±7.053 and 144.621±6.751 μg/mL, respectively. Total phenolic content (KFET) was 46.371±0.309 mgGAE/g extract (fruit) and 87.899±0.156 mgGAE/g extract (leaf). Statistical analysis showed significant differences in LC50 and TPC between fruit and leaf extracts (Two-Sided p<0.05). Post hoc tests proved a significant difference between the negative control group with parijoto fruit extract, negative control with parijoto leaf extract, and negative control with positive control (Sig.<0.05). However, no significant difference was found between parijoto fruit extract and parijoto leaf extract, parijoto fruit extract with positive control, and parijoto leaf extract with positive control (Sig.>0.05).
