Abstract
Lung disorders are among the common health problems experienced by workers in the wood furniture processing industry due to prolonged exposure to wood dust in the workplace. Wood dust remains a risk factor that can reduce lung function and negatively affect workers' quality of life. This study aims to examine the relationship between wood dust exposure and pulmonary function disorders among workers in the wood furniture processing industry located in East Bekasi District, Bekasi City, in 2025. A cross-sectional study design was used, involving 80 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, wood dust level measurements with the Air Quality Index (AQI) device, and lung function tests using a spirometer. The results of the analysis showed no statistically significant relationship between the level of wood dust exposure and pulmonary function disorders (p > 0.05). However, other factors such as smoking habits and anemia symptoms were found to be associated with impaired lung function. Based on these findings, it is recommended that companies implement smoking cessation programs in the workplace. Additionally, routine screening for anemia and education on consuming iron-rich foods are necessary to reduce the risk of anemia and improve worker productivity. These findings are expected to serve as input for improving occupational health policies in the wood processing industry sector.
