Abstract
Air quality is a crucial factor for public health, especially in high-activity areas such as KRL (commuter line) stations. Depok is among the regions with high air pollution levels, particularly around KRL stations. This study aims to assess the health risks associated with carbon monoxide (CO) exposure among parking attendants near Depok KRL stations. A descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional Environmental Health Risk Assessment (EHRA) approach was used. Six main indicators were measured: CO concentration, real-time intake, full-time intake, real-time risk quotient (RQ), full-time RQ, and risk management. Data were collected through CO level measurements using a Particulate Counter and questionnaires administered to 52 parking attendants. Results showed that CO concentrations at Citayam, Depok Lama, Depok Baru, and Pondok Cina stations exceeded the threshold limit. The highest projected lifetime intake in Citayam reached 3.84 (25th year) and 4.6 (30th year); in Depok Baru, 3.5 (25th year) and 4.2 (30th year), exceeding the Reference Concentration (RfC). The highest RQ values were 1.24 in Citayam and 1.12 in Depok Baru, both above 1. Each station had varying minimum, maximum, and average values in CO risk management. These findings highlight the urgent need for risk management strategies and can inform future air quality policies.
