Abstract
Malaria remains a health issue in Indonesia, especially in the eastern regions of the country, which account for about 90% of the nation's malaria cases. Mimika Regency, particularly Mimika Baru District, is one of the areas with a high malaria endemicity rate. This study aimed to identify the risk factors for malaria incidence related to both human and environmental factors. The research was conducted from May to June 2025 in Mimika Baru District using a cross-sectional design. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The study population included all residence of Mimika Baru District with a stratified random sampling technique, the total of 155 recidence were selected as samples. Results showed that 83.6% of respondents had been infected with malaria in the past year. Factors associated with malaria incidence include the use of ventilation screens (p value = 0.050), use of mosquito nets (p value = 0.025), presence of ceilings (p value = 0.015), presence of breeding sites (p value = 0.002), presence of resting places (p value = 0.015), and presence of animal shelters (p value = 0.025). It is reccomended that the local health office would focus on malaria prevention and control measure.
