Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a serious infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Jakarta Province was ranked 4th nationally for the highest number of tuberculosis in 2022. This study analyzed the relationship between climate factors and population density with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis in Jakarta Province in 2020-2023. The was a descriptive quatitatiev study with an ecological study design according to particular time frames in every city/regency in Jakarta. Secondary data were obtained from Indonesian Agency for Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysics, Health Office, and Population and Civil Registration Agency of Jakarta. The factors analyzed were temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, duration of sunlight, and population density. Data were analyzed using Pearson and Spearman Corelation test, depending on the data nomality. The results showed a significant relationship between temperature 2020-2023 (p=0.035, r=0.305), humidity 2020 (p=0.045, r=0.587), and duration of sunlight 2020 (p=0.046, r=-0.585) with the incidence of Pulmonary TB. However, there was no significant relationship between rainfall (p=0.353), wind speed (p=0.696), and population density (p=570) with the incidence of Pulmonary TB in 2020-2023. It is necessary to update the guidelines for building flats, particularly regarding ventilation requirements to prevent the transmission of TB.
