Abstract

Effective teaching schedule management in higher education institutions is crucial, especially considering the potential for lecturers to forget their teaching schedules. This can cause delays in the teaching process and affect educational quality. Based on interviews with lecturers at the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN Veteran Jakarta, most lecturers experience difficulties remembering their teaching schedules due to busy activities and varying schedules. This research aims to design an Android-based teaching schedule notification application that utilizes location technology to provide notifications based on distance from campus, so lecturers located farther away will receive earlier notifications. The development method uses the Waterfall model with stages of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. The research results in an Android application "Dosender" that can provide automatic teaching schedule notifications based on user location. The application successfully integrates schedule data from APIs and implements a threshold-based notification with a time range of 30-150 minutes before teaching schedules depending on distance from campus. Black box testing shows all main features function according to specifications, including location-based notification accuracy, real-time data synchronization, and responsive user interface. User Acceptance Testing shows the application is well-received by users, with an average rating of 4.36 out of 5.
