Abstract
As the complexity of the problems faced increases, it is very important to have a system that has the ability to assist the decision-making process. As an institution engaged in education, SMK Negeri 8 Jakarta experiences obstacles in the process of selecting exemplary students, which has an mpact on the lack of accuracy and efficiency in determining the results. This study aims to provide assistance to SMK Negeri 8 Jakarta to overcome problems in determining exemplary students by designing a web-based SPK with the TOPSIS method, to improve the efficiency and accuracy of calculations. The system designed uses four criteria set by SMK Negeri 8 Jakarta. The TOPSIS method is used as a decision-making process because of its ability to make objective and systematic assessments based on the proximity of choices to ideal solutions. This study provides results to answer problems in the manual system in the form of a web-based SPK. This system also improves the ability in the process of selecting exemplary students.
