Abstract

The leave application process for staff at the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN “Veteran” Jakarta is currently conducted manually using paper forms. This process presents several challenges, such as the risk of document damage or loss during handovers, approval processes that may take longer when the authorized personnel are not present on campus, and the manual creation of leave decision letters, which contributes to inefficiency. To address these issues, a web-based information system for employee leave applications was developed to facilitate digital submission, approval, and issuance of leave decision letters. The system was developed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) methodology, which involves users in each stage through an iterative approach. It was built using the Laravel framework and PostgreSQL as the database management system. The system includes a notification feature that automatically provides updates to applicants and approvers at each stage of the leave process. System testing was conducted using black-box testing, covering a total of 135 scenarios by five testers, all of which resulted in 100% conformity. This system is expected to enhance the efficiency and transparency of the leave application process within the Faculty of Computer Science, UPN “Veteran” Jakarta.
