Abstract
The purpose ofthis study is to analyze the legal certainty of investor companies and identify the role of investors as white knights in saving companies that are experiencing Debt Payment Obligation Suspension (PKPU). PKPU is a legal mechanism that provides an opportunity for debtors to restructure their debts by involving the debtor. In practice, the involvement of investors as white knights is a solution to save debtors from bankruptcy by providing additional capital or a profitable restructuring scheme. This study uses a normative legal research method with a statutory regulatory approach, a case approach, and a conceptual approach. The results of the study indicate that although white knights can be one solution for creditors and debtors, currently there is no legal certainty regarding their status and investors as white knights can take a role to avoid bankruptcy and maintain business continuity by injecting capital, management reform, and opening access to new funding, or capital participation, share acquisition, and/or debt conversion into shares. As a recommendation, clear regulations are needed in the Bankruptcy Law and PKPU to regulate the role of white knights, including their rights and obligations and legal protection. This legal certainty is expected to increase the effectiveness of PKPU and maintain the stability of the business world in Indonesia.
