Abstract

Bronchopneumonia is one of the leading causes ofrespiratory distress in children, which can affect physiological respiratory parameters, namely respiratory rate and oxygen saturation. If these physiological parameters are disrupted for an extended period, it may lead to severe physiological disorders and also affect the psychological condition of the child, especially those admitted to the emergency department. One intervention proven effective in improving this condition is the use of fan-held therapy. This therapy works by delivering impulses to the trigeminal nerve in the facial area, creating a calming sensation that subsequently influences the function of the smooth muscles in the bronchi. The sample used consisted of two individuals medically diagnosed with bronchopneumonia in the emergency department. The research design employed a case study approach. The results of this study showed an increase in oxygen saturation and an improvement in respiratory rate to the normal range. Nurses can apply this method as a complementary therapy to help improve respiratory rate and oxygen saturation in children with bronchopneumonia.
