Abstract
Vickers hardness test and charpy impact test has been done to low density polypropylene (LDPE) composite with teki grass reinforcing fiber in hope that the material can be made as an alternative material and reduce the amount of plastic waste. There are 3 composition variations, namely 97% LDPE : 3% Teki Grass, 94% LDPE : 6% Teki Grass, and 90% LDPE : 10% Teki Grass. The results obtained are for vickers hardness test, the hardness values could not be calculated due to the indentation marks could not be seen. For charpy impact test results, the results obtained are the increase of Teki Grass content from 3% to 6% increased the average impact values of the specimens and the increased of Teki Grass content from 6% to 10% reduced the average impact values of the specimens. From charpy impact test results, it is also obtained that specimens with biggest average impact value are specimens with 94% LDPE : 6% Teki Grass composition and specimens with lowest standard deviation value are specimens with 90% LDPE : 10% Teki Grass. The fracture type happened to charpy impact test specimens is brittle fracture due to absence of significant plastic deformation. Keywords: Plastic, LDPE, Teki Grass, Hardness Test, Impact Test
