Abstract

Economic growth is one of the most significant indicators of a country's economy and is a focus of the government, as it can be influenced by various factors such as inflation. East Java Province ranks third among provinces in Indonesia based on Gross Domestic Product (GDP). However, these regions have different population growth rates and Gini coefficients. Further research is needed to determine whether population, Gini index, and poverty have an influence or not. This study aims to determine the extent to which population, Gini index, and poverty influence economic growth using the Twostep-Sys-GMM method and STATA 17 software. The research object is 38 districts/cities in East Java Province for the period 2015-2024 using data from the East Java Provincial Statistics Agency. The results show that population and Gini index have a significant positive influence on economic growth, while poverty has a significant negative influence. Together, these three variables have a significant impact on economic growth at a 5% significance level. However, in the long term, population, Gini index, and poverty do not have a significant impact on economic growth. The provincial government should consider these factors in decision-making to anticipate long-term impacts.
