Abstract

Papua Province has diverse potentials that can support the regional economy. However, Papua Province has yet to optimize its potential, which is indicated by its high poverty rate, even ranked as the first position of the poorest province in Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the effect of the open unemployment rate, human development index, and GRDP growth rate on poverty in Papua Province. The study utilizes secondary data obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik and other scientific resources from 2014 to 2023. This research uses panel data regression analysis with a fixed effect model (FEM) using STATA 17 software. The results of this research explain that, partially, the open unemployment rate and the human development index have a negative and significant effects on poverty, while the GRDP growth have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty. Simultaneously, the open unemployment rate, human development index, and GRDP growth rate collectively impact poverty levels.
