Abstract

The problem of plastic waste, particularly PET bottles, is a significant environmental challenge. Therefore, the technology of recycling PET bottles into 3D printer filament is an important solution, both to reduce waste and provide sustainable raw materials. This study analyzed the effect of pull force, temperature, tensile force, and incision width on filament quality. PET bottles were cut into 8.7 mm, 9.2 mm, and 9.5 mm incisions, then heated at 120°C and pulled with 22.5 N, 41.65 N, and 49.45 N. The results showed that high pulling force caused the filament diameter to shrink due to greater strain. Higher temperatures make PET more malleable, but if it is too high, it can cause brittle filaments. Meanwhile, a small incision width tends to maintain a larger diameter.
