Abstract
The development of the Internet of Things (IoT) in agriculture presents challenges in resource selection, particularly regarding energy sources. Batteries, as portable energy sources, are crucial for IoT devices used in remote agricultural areas with limited electrical infrastructure. This research aims to analyze and compare the performance of Li-Ion and Lithium-LiFePO4 batteries as DC power sources for agricultural IoT devices through experimental testing over a 24-hour period, measuring voltage and current at hourly intervals using INA219 sensors. Results indicate that Lithium-LiFePO4 batteries significantly outperform Li-Ion batteries in terms of voltage stability and current consistency throughout the testing period; specifically, during the 24-hour test, the Li-Ion battery's voltage dropped to 0.7 volts with a current of 1.6 mA, while the Lithium-LiFePO4 battery maintained a voltage of 1.06 volts and a current of 22.06 mA. Additionally, the system utilized can read agricultural IoT data, displaying values such as soil moisture at 161, humidity at 79, and temperature at 26 degrees Celsius. In conclusion, Lithium-LiFePO4 batteries are more suitable for long-term operation and high reliability in agricultural IoT applications, and this research is expected to contribute to optimal resource selection for IoT devices in agriculture, promoting efficiency and sustainability in smart farming technology implementation. Keywords: Internet of Things (IoT), Li-Ion, Lithium-Phosphate, INA219 Sensor
