Abstract

Diabetes mellitus, defined as a disease that affects more than 450 million people worldwide. In Indonesia alone, the number of sufferers is estimated to increase to more than 600 million people by 2045. The hyperglycemia that occurs in diabetes mellitus has been found to damage the function of the male reproductive system. This is caused by the formation of free radicals that are destructive. Moringa leaves contain antioxidants that can reduce the destructive effects of free radicals caused by hyperglycemia conditions. This study describes the histopathological picture of seminiferous tubule diameter and Johnsen score of hyperglycemic rats with normal, hyperglycemic groups without treatment and treatment with doses of Moringa leaf extract 200 mg/KgBW, 300 mg/KgBW, and 400 mg/KgBW. The diameter of seminiferous tubules in groups with doses of 300 mg/KgBW and 400 mg/KgBW did not decrease. Johnsen score between all groups had no significant different, but the group with a dose of 400 mg/KgBW had the best mean score..
