Abstract
Toddlers often experience Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). The prevalence of ARI among Indonesian toddlers has risen from 12.8% in 2018 to 34.2% in 2023, according to SKI. The aim of this study was to analyze the factors that contribute to ARI symptoms in toddlers at Rusunawa Marunda in 2024. This study used a cross-sectional study design. A total of 114 respondents were obtained by using a purposive sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to conduct interviews and measure indoor air quality (PM2.5, PM10, and humidity) using an Air Quality Monitor to gather primary data. While secondary data with the immunization of toddlers were obtained from MCH. A chi-square analysis was conducted to see the relationship between the research variables and ARI symptoms in toddlers in Rusunawa Marunda. The results show that there was an association between immunization status (p=0.043), exclusive breastfeeding (p=0.000), PM2.5 (p=0.008), occupancy density (p=0.046), and the presence of smokers in the family (p=0.033) with ARI symptoms. The regular monitoring of surrounding industries is necessary to ensure that the waste and pollution produced do not threaten the community. Additionally, the management of Rusunawa Marunda should consider restricting residents to a single unit to prevent overcrowding. Keyword: Air quality, ARI in children under five, exclusive breastfeeding, immunization status, residential density
