Abstract

Something like an acute respiratory infection can be called ISPA is a type of infectious disease. ISPA is still one of the health issues that is rather prevalent in the world. Based on 2013 Riskesdas data and Riskesdas data for 2018, the most ISPA cases were occupied by the age period of 1-4 years. The purpose of this study is to identify the elements that most influence ISPA in youngsters younger than five on the island of Java. This research used a cross-sectional study design with secondary data, namely the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey (SDKI). Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data analysis were performed. After weighting among 4,088 samples, ISPA prevalence in children less than five years old on the island of Java was 39.2%. The outcomes of logistic regression and multivariate analysis analysis found that toddler age (1-5 years) was the most dominant variable in increasing the risk of ARI (POR=1.596; 95%CI 1.348-1.889) compared to infant age (<1 year). It is advised that the government have the capacity to increase efforts to achieve more even immunization coverage in all regions, including in areas with limited access. The government is also expected to contribute actively in encouraging environmental sanitation and cleanliness improvement programs, including repairs to the main floors of houses, especially in areas that are prone to poor environmental conditions.
