Abstract
Advertising formula milk as a substitute for exclusive breastfeeding through mass media remains a critical issue that requires a strong legal framework and effective enforcement. Despite advances in regulations such as Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 and Health Law No. 17 of 2023, there are still gaps in the monitoring and sanctioning mechanisms for violators. Consumers currently refer to the mechanism stipulated in Consumer Protection Law No. 8/1999 (UUPK) to address misleading advertisements, but this mechanism requires more comprehensive integration with relevant agencies for effective resolution. Several steps need to be taken, such as strengthening regulatory enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and accountability of digital platforms to ensure that advertisements comply with established standards. By strengthening these mechanisms, both in regulation and practice, consumer protection against misleading advertising practices related to infant formula will become stronger, which will ultimately support public health and welfare.
