Abstract
The prevalence of underweight in children under the age of five is a pressing public health issue since it is linked to long-term health hazards. Children that eat poorly will face long-term consequences. Inadequate ingestion of fruits, vegetables, eggs, fish, and animal products during a child's early growth can result in poor brain development, suppression of learning, decreased immune, increased susceptibility to disease, and even mortality. The goal of this study is to see if there is a link between calorie and protein consumption and the prevalence of underweight in toddlers in the Puskesmas Sukamaju Baru workplace. This study utilised a quantitative analytical survey using a cross-sectional strategy. The sample size was 83 respondents, drawn using purposive sampling procedures. The food recall form is used to gather data seven times a day, and body weight is measured directly. This study found a p-value of 0.005 (<0.05) for a relationship between energy intake and the incidence of underweight in toddlers at Puskesmas Sukamaju Baru, and a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) for a relationship between protein intake and the incidence of underweight in toddlers. This study is expected to shed light on the association between underweight occurrences caused by calorie consumption and protein levels. Researchers want to study how each aspect connects to the current dependent variable.
