Abstract

Wheat imports are a difficult challenge to control in Indonesia, as many people still consume wheat-based foods. The increasing demand makes Indonesia a country that is highly dependent on imports. Since Indonesia cannot produce wheat domestically, it has to rely on imports. The purpose of this study was conducted to assess how the analysis of the influence of inflation, gross domestic product (GDP), and exchange rates on the volume of wheat imports in Indonesia. This study uses Indonesia as an object with sample data from 1990 to 2022. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the official websites of UN Comtrade and the World Bank. The method used is the Error Correction Model (ECM) to see its influence in the long and short term. The results of this research found that in the short term Inflation has a significant and positive effect, while in the long term it has no effect on the volume of wheat imports. Meanwhile, GDP and exchange rate in the long and short term have no influence on the volume of wheat imports.
