Abstract

Poverty is a major challenge in complex economic, social, cultural and structural issues. It includes limited access to the services and opportunities needed to improve one's standard of living. Central Java Province ranks as the 3rd poorest province of all provinces in Indonesia. This phenomenon, which always reaches more than 3,500 thousand people, is driven by the large population which usually will greatly affect the availability of decent work so that the high number of unemployment cannot be suppressed by the government, not to mention the issue of the low level of education of the community, and a number of people whose income is shrinking. This study aims to analyze the effect of education level, unemployment rate, and minimum wage on poverty rate in Central Java Province. This study used secondary data for 5 years in the period 2019 to 2023 sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 29 districts and 6 cities, so that the total sample consisted of 175 data from a predetermined time series. This study used dynamic panel data regression analysis with the System Generalized Method of Moments (Sys-GMM) method with the help of Stata 17 software. The results show that education level and minimum wage have a significant influence on poverty, while the unemployment rate does not have a significant influence on poverty.
