Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of open unemployment rate, consumer price index (CPI), and economic growth on poverty in Papua Province during the period 1993-2023. The data used is secondary data with an annual frequency obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). The analysis method used is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), which aims to identify short-term and long-term relationships between the variables studied. The results show that in the long run, the open unemployment rate, the consumer price index (CPI), and economic growth have a significant positive effect on poverty in Papua Province. However, in the short term, only the open unemployment rate shows a significant positive effect on poverty. Meanwhile, the consumer price index and economic growth variables do not show a significant effect on poverty in the short term. In addition, there is a one way causality relationship between the open unemployment rate and the consumer price index on poverty in Papua Province. These findings suggest that the open unemployment rate is a major factor affecting poverty, both in the short and long term. Therefore, effective policies are needed to reduce the open unemployment rate in order to sustainably reduce poverty in Papua.
