Abstract

Purpose Infertility refers to a condition where a married couple is unable to achieve pregnancy naturally after engaging in sexual intercourse without contraception for a period of 12 months. Risk factors for male infertility are influenced by various aspects, such as increasing age, obesity, and smoking. This study aims to examine the relationship between age, obesity, and smoking factors on spermatozoa concentration in infertile men at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto during the period of July 1, 2022 – July 31, 2024. Methodology This study is an analytical observational study using a cross-sectional method with male samples who underwent semen analysis at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto from July 1, 2022 – July 31, 2024, meeting the inclusion criteria. Results There were 53 respondents, 58.5% of whom were aged ≤35 years, with an average age of 34.11 years, ranging from 21 to 59 years. A total of 62.3% were obese, 49.1% were smokers, and regarding spermatozoa concentration, 35.8% had normozoospermia, 37.7% had oligozoospermia, and 22.6% had azoospermia. Conclusion There is a significant relationship between age and smoking with male infertility. There is no significant relationship between obesity and spermatozoa concentration in infertile men.
