Abstract

Long-term exposure to dust from factories, industry and mining can increase the risk of lung cancer. Dust from factories, industry and mining is composed of carcinogenic substances. Lung cancer in patients with a history of exposure to factory, industrial and mining dust is generally dominated by the histopathological features of adenocarcinoma and small cell carcinoma. Lung cancer in patients with a history of tuberculosis is generally dominated by the histopathological features of non-small cell carcinoma. This is caused by extensive damage and chronic inflammation due to tuberculosis infection. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between work history and history of tuberculosis with the histopathological appearance of lung cancer in patients at the Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Persahabatan in 2023. This research is a quantitative research with observational analytical methods with a cross sectional research design. The research was conducted in the medical records unit of RSUP Persahabatan. The sampling technique uses consecutive sampling. Statistical analysis of the research used the Chi Square test. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was no relationship between work history and the histopathological picture of lung cancer (p= 0.626) and there was no relationship between history of tuberculosis and the histopathological picture of lung cancer (p= 0.551). Based on the research results, it was found that there was no relationship between work history and the histopathological picture of lung cancer and there was no relationship between the history of tuberculosis and the histopathological picture of lung cancer in patients at RSUP Persahabatan in 2023.
