Abstract
Stroke is a neurological disorder that is caused by the decrease of blood supply to the brain. Ischemic stroke accounted for 62,4% of all strokes. Nowadays, hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), in which patients breathe 100% oxygen with increased atmospheric pressure, can be the therapeutic option and can be done after the onset of stroke to gain therapeutic effects, such as the recovery of stroke patients motoric. The results depend on the period from the onset of stroke until the patient gets therapy (time window) and the number of therapy sessions. This study aims to determine the relationship between the time window and the number of hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions with the degree of motor strength of post-ischemic stroke patients at Dr. Mintohardjo Naval Hospital. The design of this study is cross-sectional with total sampling method. There are 30 samples who are selected based on inclusion criteria. The sample was analyzed with fisher exact test. The results of bivariate analysis showed p=0.011 for the relationship between the number of HBOT sessions with the degree of motor strength (RR=2,100; 95% Cl: 1,341 – 3,289) and p=0.140 for the relationship between the time window of HBOT and the degree of motor strength. In this study, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the number of HBOT sessions and the degree of motor strength of post-ischemic stroke patients and there is no relationship between time window of HBOT and the degree of motor strength of post-ischemic stroke patients at Dr. Mintohardjo Naval Hospital.
