Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the effect of premium income, claim expenses, and risk based capital on the profit of insurance companies. The sample population in this analysis comprises 40 conventional life insurance companies licensed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and members of the Indonesian Life Insurance Association (AAJI) during the 2021 to 2023 period, resulting in a total of 98 observations selected through purposive sampling. This quantitative research utilizes financial statements as secondary data, obtained from the companies' official websites. The analysis technique employed in this study is descriptive statistics and panel data regression using the random effect model (REM), processed through the STATA version 17 application. The results indicate that premium income has a significant positive effect on insurance companies' profits, while claim expenses and risk based capital have no effect on the profits of insurance companies.
