Abstract
Background: Office workers often have long sitting hours, leading to physical inactivity. Physical inactivity combined with poor dietary habits can result in central obesity, which can be measured using WHR (Waist-to-Height Ratio) and WHtR (Waist-to-Hip Ratio). High intake of saturated fatty acids (SFA) and low intake of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) and monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) increase the risk of atherosclerosis, which can lead to elevated blood pressure. Objectif : to identify the association between fat intake, WHR, and WHtR with blood pressure in office employees. Methods :This study is a quantitative observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. A total of 112 employees participated in this study. Fat intake was assessed with food recall and food frequency questionnaire, WHR and WHtR with measuring tape, and blood pressure with a digital tensimeter. Data analysis included univariate analysis, bivariate analysis, and multivariate analysis. Results: 63 participants (56,2%) had normal blood pressure. Most subjects had good SFA intake (50,9%), good PUFA intake (58%), but low MUFA intake (83%). In addition, 84 participants had normal WHR (75%) and 57 participants had normal WHtR (50,9%). There was a significant association between SFA (p=0,000), WHR (p=0,000), and WHtR (p=0,000) with blood pressure. Meanwhile, there was no significant association between PUFA (p=0.140) and MUFA (p=0,394) with blood pressure . Conclusion : There is an association between SFA fat intake, waist to hip ratio, and waist to height ratio with blood pressure, but there was no association between PUFA and MUFA fat intake with blood pressure.
