Abstract
The crisis of food waste has emerged as one of the major challenges in the global agenda to achieve environmental sustainability and reduce the negative impacts of climate change. The food waste sector is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for 10% of the total greenhouse gas contribution to global warming. This figure exceeds the contributions of the plastic and oil production sectors, each contributing 3.8% to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, there is a need to increase awareness of food waste and its negative impacts, leading to a demand for innovative solutions. This research aims to design an information system for managing unsold but still quality food to be distributed to buyers, thereby reducing food waste and its environmental impact, especially on greenhouse gas emissions. The methodology used in this research is the SDLC waterfall. Information is gathered through interviews and analyzed using the PIECES method for system analysis. System design is conducted using UML, while program construction is done using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and MySQL. System testing is performed with blackbox testing. The resulting system is a website called ResQfood, designed as a platform for selling unsold but still consumable food. This helps sellers sell unsold stock while also providing opportunities for buyers to obtain the products they need.
