Abstract

Copyright infringement that continues to occur is streaming films from illegal platforms. The existence of illegal sites is a place for people to violate the exclusive rights of creators of cinematographic works by enjoying films illegally. This illegal film provider site has a serious impact on the film distribution to the official film streaming platform. The purpose of this research is to analyse the regulations governing copyright in Indonesia legally regulated in Law No. 28 of 2014, as well as optimising the policy in order to break the chain of infringement of exclusive cinematographic rights from streaming films from illegal sites/platforms. Normative juridical research method supported by qualitative primary (empirical) data obtained by field research in the form of interviews. The novelty in this research is based on the number of people streaming or watching films from illegal platforms that are widespread on the internet in relation to web owners of legal film providers. The results of the research on copyright infringement occur in society, the government's efforts in overcoming this polemic are deemed not yet implemented optimally, seeing copyright infringement continues to follow. So optimising existing policies needs to be implemented in order to create justice for cinematographic exclusive rights in Indonesia.
