Abstract

Overnutrition in college students who are early adults can have a negative impact, such as disrupting daily lecture activities and causing metabolic diseases, even though they are still relatively young. Factors related to eating patterns and unhealthy lifestyles can contribute to the incidence of overweight/obesity in college students. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between night eating syndrome, consumption of ultra-processed foods, and physical activity with overnutrition in students of the Faculty of Health Sciences UPN "Veteran" Jakarta. This study was an analytic observational study with a case-control design. This sample consists of students aged 19-24 years, including 47 case groups (overnutrition students) and 47 control groups (non-overnutrition students). The data collected were anthropometric, night eating syndrome using NEQ, UPF consumption habits using FFQ, and physical activity using IPAQ. Data were analyzed bivariate using the Chi-square test. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between night eating syndrome and overnutrition (p = 0.004; OR = 5.214) and no relationship between UPF consumption (p = 0.409) and physical activity (0.149) with overnutrition. Students are encouraged to enhance the duration and quality of their sleep, as well as to monitor the food they consume at night.
