Abstract
This study examines the phenomenon of the challenges faced by Ninik Mamak as opinion leaders among the Minang diaspora community in Jakarta. The aim is to understand how Ninik Mamak fulfills their role in the diaspora. Using Kim Young Yunn's Adaptation theory and a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this research involves five informants through interviews. Results show that Ninik Mamak serves as a leader, decision-maker, and information provider for their community. Challenges faced include cultural aspects, technology, and younger generations. Ninik Mamak must adapt to these challenges to ensure the continuity and adaptation of Minang culture, both in traditional and modern contexts, in the diaspora and in Minang homeland. The researcher suggests future studies to interview Ninik Mamak directly to obtain more accurate data.
