Abstract

The analysis of the strength of the crane base structure is one of the important factors to ensure the safety of the crane during operation. The crane base is responsible for supporting several structures above it, making the analysis of the crane base structure strength crucial for considering the stability and safety of the crane during operation. This study aims to determine the maximum stress values, specifically plate stress (von Mises) and shear stress. In this study, Finite Element Analysis was used on the crane base structure with load variations of 20, 25, and 30 tons and rotational angle variations of 0°, 90°, 180°, and 270° degrees. Based on the analysis, the highest stress values were found under a 30-ton load with a 0° degree rotational angle, amounting to 124.43 MPa for plate stress and 17.35 MPa for shear stress. Therefore, the crane base structure can be declared safe for operation, as the highest stress values are still below the allowable stress value determined by the safety factor rules, which is 188 MPa.
