Abstract
Gastritis is a condition of inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and the disease is generally common in productive age. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress, habits of consumption of irritative foods and beverages with gastritis symptoms in students of the UPN “Veteran” Jakarta nutrition study program. This study was an analytic observational study using a cross sectional study design. The sampling method used stratified random sampling technique involving active students of the nutrition study program from 2020 to 2023, namely 135 students. The results of bivariate analysis using the chi square test showed a significant relationship between stress with gastritis symptoms (p=0.009), caffeine consumption habits with gastritis symptoms (p=0.005), acid food and berevarges consumption habits with gastritis symptoms (p=0.017), and spicy food consumption habits with gastritis symptoms (p=0.002). Meanwhile, there was no association between fatty food consumption habits and gastritis symptoms (p=0.101). Researchers hope that respondents can increase concern for their health and be able to manage stress and reduce the consumption of foods and drinks that can trigger gastric irritation.
