Abstract

Background: Down Syndrome is a disease caused by an abnormality in a chromosome (usually chromosome 21) that fails to separate during meiosis. As a result, a person has 47 chromosomes, one chromosome more than the average person who has 46 chromosomes. The incidence of Down Syndrome per 1,000 births is up to 1 occurrence per 1,100 births worldwide. Purpose of Case Study: To be able to find out how Physiotherapy management in Down Syndrome cases at YPAC Jakarta. Design: This study uses a descriptive case study approach to provide a systematic description of a particular population, namely play therapy, Neuro development Treatment, sensory and Positioning. Analyzing in depth about the case. With one patient participating in this case study, the parameters used were sensory examination, joint range of motion examination, GMFM and XOTR. Results: The evaluation results obtained after the examination and intervention provided for 3 meetings, there is a change in the validity of the Neuro development Treatment technique 12%, play therapy 5% sensory 5% positioning 14%, such as the patient can maintain an upright standing position for longer, decreased tonus activity slightly towards normal, and decreased joint range of motion (Joint Laxity). Conclusion: To achieve the desired, it is necessary to be consistent in providing interventions, and monitoring the consistency of the role of parents in conducting home programs.
