Abstract
Based on data from (DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service, 2023), it was recorded that fires in DKI Jakarta in 2023 reached 2,286 incidents. Electrical short circuit is the main cause of fires with 1,216 incidents (65.82%). Preparedness is a step taken to anticipate the possibility of a disaster. It is important for community members to have more knowledge and skills in dealing with disasters. Preparedness can be improved by socialization with simulations or demonstrations. The purpose of this study was to determine the Effect of Fire Fighting Demonstrations on Increasing Knowledge and Attitudes of East Jakarta Communities in Fire Preparedness This study used quantitative research methods with a quasy experimental approach. The sampling technique used nonprobability sampling with an accidental sampling approach as many as 235 people living in RW 010 Kelurahan Penggilingan East Jakarta aged 17 - 65 years. The analysis test used was the Wilcoxon test. The instrument used in this study was a preparedness questionnaire. The results of the Wilcoxon test show that there is an effect of firefighting demonstrations on increasing knowledge and attitudes with a p value of <0.001 (p <0.05). To further researchers in order to perfect further research on fire preparedness.
