Abstract
Online mobile games, accessible through smartphones or gadgets connected to the internet, are known to induce physical fatigue and health issues when played excessively. This study delves into the specific health impacts, particularly focusing on carpal tunnel syndrome and high blood pressure among adolescents attending Martia Bhakti High School in Bekasi City. Employing a quantitative cross-sectional design, the research utilized Fisher's Exact test and cluster sampling to gather data from 124 participants. Instruments included the Indonesian Online Game Addiction Questionnaire, Boston Carpal Tunnel Questionnaire (BCTQ) in Indonesian, digital sphygmomanometers for blood pressure measurements, and physical Phalen tests. The findings underscore a significant correlation (p=0.001, p<0.005) between intense engagement with online mobile games and the heightened incidence of carpal tunnel syndrome and high blood pressure among adolescents. The study emphasizes the importance of adolescents managing their gaming habits to mitigate these health risks effectively. Researchers advocate for setting limits on gaming durations and promoting healthy behaviors to safeguard the well-being of young gamers amidst the pervasive influence of online mobile games.
