Abstract

CV XYZ produces plastic bags of various colours and sizes branded "Kado". The problem faced by the company is the fluctuating demand that is not matched by the available capacity. This causes bottlenecks so that it cannot meet consumer demand. This research uses the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) and Theory of Constraints (TOC) methods. The RCCP method is used to calculate demand and available capacity. Followed by the TOC method to make adjustments to the constrained work stations. The results showed that there were five constrained workstations, namely Mixing and Blowing workstations in January, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November. Then Cutting and Pond work stations in all periods and Packing work stations in the April period. Alternatives that can be done include adding machines and or shifts and overtime working hours. The Mixing work station requires the addition of 1 machine, the blowing work station requires the addition of different machines according to the number of requests, the Cutting and Pond work stations require the addition of 1 shift and a different number of machines, and the Packing work station requires the addition of overtime working hours for 3 hours. After recalculating, it was found that the previously bottleneck work station became non-bottleneck due to the increase in available capacity.
