Abstract
The Sunda Strait waters, with an area of 5,618 km², have significant fishery potential, especially in the Labuan area, Pandeglang Regency, which directly borders the Sunda Strait and the Indian Ocean. This region has wooden fishing vessels with a Gross Tonnage (GT) of around 30 tons, which play an important role in the local economy. However, the limitations of existing docking facilities can hinder the development of the local fishing industry. This research aims to develop an optimal slipway plan for docking wooden fishing vessels in the Labuan area. The slipway is designed to be located at the Labuan Coastal Fishing Port (PPP) and to serve fishing vessels up to 30 GT with slipway slopes of 4°, 5°, and 6°. The slipway has a total length of 55.5 meters for a 4° slope, 49.5 meters for a 5° slope, 44.9 meters for a 6° slope, and a width of 12 meters. The cradle structure is divided into four segments to support the vessel's weight. Each cradle segment has a length of 5.5 meters, a width of 2 meters, and a height of 0.35 meters, using WF 350x175x7x11 beam profiles. The pulling force of the winch varies according to the slope: 3.16 tons (4°), 3.62 tons (5°), and 4.1 tons (6°), with the required motor power being 8.8 kW (4°), 9 kW (5°), and 9.28 kW (6°). The vessel pulling speed, with a total docking time of 30 minutes, reaches 1.85 m/min (4°), 1.65 m/min (5°), and 1.5 m/min (6°). The analysis results show that a 4° slope is the most efficient for the winch capacity when docking 30 GT fishing vessels. With an appropriate slipway design, it is expected to improve operational efficiency and ensure the sustainability of the fishing industry in the Labuan area.
