Abstract
Vibrations can be recorded and analyzed for their phenomena. Excessive vibrations in equipment can cause damage or even total failure. For example, uncontrolled vibrations in industrial machinery can lead to premature wear, cracks, or even accidents that endanger worker safety. This needs to be balanced with adequate technological advancements to reduce the risk of accidents due to damping failures. This study involves recording and analyzing vibrations occurring in a Horizontal Bending Bar where the measuring instrument is designed to differentiate the characteristics of damped vibrations using a simplified hydraulic shock absorber. Testing is conducted on the horizontal bending bar vibration test device by applying an exciter in the form of an upward pull force, which is then damped by the simplified hydraulic shock absorber. The Horizontal Bending Bar is subjected to several variations with the determination of vibration parameters referring to the basics of mechanical vibration theory. Based on the test results, the design with Arduino measuring instrument specifications and the MPU9250 sensor, input power of 3.5-5 volts, maximum vibration frequency (active) of 4000 Hz, and maximum DC current of 3.5 mA produced measurements at the natural frequency with an accuracy of 96% - 98% and a damping ratio above and below 0.1%. Supported by differences in vibration characteristics in old and new lubricants, the test results showed a natural frequency trend and damping ratio for the old lubricant at 46.52 Hz and 0.031, and for the new lubricant at 61.33 Hz and 0.034. Keywords: Damping ratio, design, measuring instrument, natural frequency, vibration, vibrationmeter, viscous damping.
