Abstract
The passenger cabin is a critical component of passenger ships, ensuring comfort during sea voyages. This study aims to analyze thermal comfort conditions in the economy class passenger cabin of the ship KMP. JAGANTARA. Utilizing CBE Thermal comfort Tools and referencing the ASHRAE-55 standard, the research reveals that the current thermal comfort levels in the passenger cabin of KMP. JAGANTARA have not yet reached desired levels. Achieving optimal thermal comfort requires a tailored approach involving variations in passenger numbers and adjustments in room dimensions. Calculations indicate that reducing the number of passengers can decrease the cooling load within the cabin. For instance, with 144 passengers, the cooling load remains below the ideal threshold (83405 BTU < 83836 BTU). Additionally, increasing the room dimensions positively impacts thermal comfort. For example, a room measuring 325.93 m3 meets thermal comfort criteria (100.397 BTU < 101.965 BTU). then with lighting conditions of 1/4 of the total lighting, the ideal cooling load is found to be at a passenger capacity of 149 people (84775 BTU/h < 83775 BTU/h). Thus, varying passenger numbers and adjusting room dimensions represent viable strategies to enhance thermal comfort in the passenger cabin of KMP. JAGANTARA in accordance with the ASHRAE-55 standard. These measures are expected to provide valuable recommendations for improving the design and management of passenger cabins in other passenger ships
