Abstract

Transportation is the process of transporting goods or people using means of conveyance, one of which is a ship. Undoubtedly, a ship requires repairs during its operation to ensure the safety and security of the ship. During the docking process using a floating dock, the ship that will perform the docking is pulled into the dock with the help of a tugboat and pulled by a mooring rope. In writing this thesis, the author calculates the flow of water through the pipe in the pump system that enters the pontoon in the form of an analysis of the calculation of head losses or friction losses and also analyzes the calculation of the floating dock pump power capacity, after meeting the results of the pump capacity continued with the determination of pumps and pump motors on the market, then calculated the efficiency in terms of operating time and also the electricity cost of using the pump motor. The results obtained in the writing of this thesis show the acceleration time when docking and undocking, which initially takes 3 hours each. By using a new pump capacity of 2200 m³/h and a pump motor power of 160 kw for each pump, it was found that the calculation cut the docking and undocking time to 2 hours each. Planning new pumps and pump motors results in efficiency in terms of time and also the cost of electricity usage for pump motors. It can be concluded from the research results that the efficiency of operation time and also the efficiency of electricity usage costs for pump motors, where the time efficiency is 33% and the efficiency of pump motor electricity usage costs is 3%. So that a more optimal and efficient acceleration of ship docking time is obtained.
