Abstract

Extreme waves and abrasion are among the most dangerous hydrometeorological disasters in coastal areas. Coastal damage due to abrasion can disrupt the lives of people living around it, especially those who work as fishermen. If coastal abrasion is not addressed, coastal damage will get worse. Therefore, in coastal areas a breakwater structure is needed or can be called a breakwater. One type of breakwater used is non-perforated semi-circular caisson breakwater. This study aims to determine the effective depth that can be used in the installation of breakwater with non-perforated semi-circular caisson breakwater type to reduce the effects of extreme waves and abrasion in coastal areas. The method used is to use the Computational Fluid Dynamics method to determine the reduction of wave height, reduction of wave hydrostatic pressure, and reduction of wave displacement velocity. The research was conducted in 5 depths, namely 1 meter, 2 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters and 5 meters. The results show that the breakwater with this type at a depth of 3 meters is an effective condition in reducing wave height. And at a depth of 4 meters is the most effective condition in reducing wave hydrostatic pressure and reducing wave displacement velocity.
