Abstract
The arm is a vital part of the body that play a crucial role in everyday activities. Injuries or functional impairments to the arms can significantly restrict an individual's ability to perform daily tasks. Physiotherapy has been proven to be effective in restoring arm function, particularly for stroke patients who often experience weakness or paralysis on one side of the body. However, the availability of appropriate physiotherapy equipment in Indonesia remains limited, and the lack of ergonomic designs hinders the effectiveness of therapy. This research aims to design an ergonomic and effective arm physiotherapy prototype by integrating kinematic principles. The prototype was designed using Autodesk Inventor software and ergonomically analyzed using the RULA method. The results demonstrate that the designed prototype can follow the natural movements of the arms and hands with joint angles derived from inverse kinematics calculations within the safe range of motion (ROM) for elbow and shoulder joints. Testing indicates improved rehabilitation effectiveness with adequate accuracy, making this prototype a promising tool for stroke patient rehabilitation exercises. Therefore, this prototype is expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the rehabilitation process, support the restoration of arm function, and improve patients' quality of life.
