Abstract

A survey of 97 students from the Faculty of Computer Science at UPN Veteran Jakarta found that most (78.4%) had never visited the campus before enrolling. The majority (99%) believed that a 360° Virtual Tour could help them understand the campus facilities and environment before enrolling, while barriers such as time or geographical distance were considered by many respondents (96.9%). The Virtual Tour can provide greater accessibility for prospective students and the general public to explore the campus environment without having to physically come to the campus, making it easier for prospective new students who are outside the campus area. The 360-degree Virtual Tour for the Faculty of Computer Science was built successfully using Unity. The development approach involved creating a scene with a sphere, which was projected equirectangularly and could be explored in a 360-degree format. In applying Dijkstra's algorithm for finding the closest distance in the Virtual Tour of FIK UPN Veteran Jakarta, the approach is to create node objects that represent each location point to be displayed. After the algorithm process is complete, the application will load the scene names in the resulting route list. In addition, the author also created a route search feature in the form of a floor plan image to provide an overview of the campus layout for users who have never visited the campus environment directly. To make the Virtual Tour of the Faculty of Computer Science UPN Veteran Jakarta accessible using the website, the solution is to build the application using WebGL. In this way, the virtual tour application that has been created in Unity can be uploaded to the web and accessed through an internet browser. Thus, users can easily explore the Virtual Tour online without the need to download the application separately.
