Abstract

This research aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT) based air quality monitoring system at the UPN Veteran Jakarta Faculty of Engineering using the ESP32 microcontroller. This system is designed to real-time measure levels of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and particulate matter (PM2.5) using the MQ-7, MQ-135, and Sharp Dust GP2Y1010AU0F sensors. Test results show that the MQ-135 sensor can detect NO2 with an accuracy of 99.12%, the MQ-7 sensor can detect CO with an accuracy of 99.76%, and the Sharp Dust GP2Y1010AU0F sensor can detect PM2.5 with an accuracy of 99.74%. Data from these sensors is sent to Firebase for storage and displayed on the database and website in real-time. The website can display the concentration value of each air parameter, allowing users to monitor and analyze air conditions more efficiently. Implementation of this system produces air quality analysis in open spaces at the Faculty of Engineering, UPN Veteran Jakarta, which is expected to increase understanding and awareness of air quality in the campus environment and support efforts to improve health and comfort.
