Abstract

The increasingly fierce industrial competition in the development of the industry demands that companies have good performance, including in the design of existing facilities to meet market demand. One of the important factors in the success of a company is an effective layout on the production floor. Therefore, this study aims to provide a proposal for designing an optimal layout for the production floor at PT. Kahar Duta Sarana. In this study, the Automated Design Layout Program (ALDEP) and Computerized Relationship Layout Planning (CORELAP) methods were used with the initial stage of making From to Chart (FTC). This study revealed that the company is facing a non-optimal layout problem, which causes a rather long distance between departments. Therefore, this study is conducted to provide a proposal for a more efficient layout design. The results of the comparison of the two methods show that the proposed layout in the Computerized Relationship Layout Planning (CORELAP) method is the recommended layout for the company. Thus, this study provides an optimal layout recommendation for PT. Kahar Duta Sarana, so that it is expected to increase the operational efficiency and productivity of the company in meeting the increasing market demand.
