Abstract

ABSTRACT Introduction Coronary heart disease is the first cardiovascular disease that causes death in developing and industrialized countries. High cholesterol levels are one of the causative factors of coronary heart disease. Antioxidant levels of bidara leaves can inhibit and reduce cholesterol levels in the blood. Objective This study aims to determine the potential of bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritina Lam.) on the histopathological picture of coronary arteries in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) wistar strain hyperlipidemia model. Methods The research method is true experimental with a randomized post-test only control group research design using 30 Wistar rats induced by high-fat feed, then divided into 5 groups consisting of 2 control groups and 3 Bidara Leaf Extract treatment groups with doses of 0.2 gr / kgBB, 0.4 gr / kgBB, 0.8 gr / kgBB. Using Kruskal-Wallis Analysis Test and Games-Howell Post-Hoc Test. Results Results showed no variation in coronary artery histopathology findings. Conclusion The effect of bidara leaf extract on improving the histopathological picture of coronary arteries cannot be proven due to research limitations.
