Abstract

The continuously evolving era has led the advertising world increasingly towards digital, with technological advancements supporting advertising that make ads more varied due to the internet. Digital advertising is one of the most frequently used types in today’s digital age, especially on social media. However, digital ads often encounter failures that can be detrimental to companies due to inappropriate ad planning, one of which is the visual aspect of the ads. Therefore, optimizing ad visuals is necessary to reduce ad failures. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a virtual ethnographic approach. The concept used in this study is advertisement attribution according to Frank Jefkins, which includes message, script, design, model, color, and music. The results of this research show that there are several ways to optimize ad visuals on Instagram. Based on the research findings, there are six aspects to consider in Instagram ad visuals and three aspects that attract the audience to the visual ads, along with 27 ways to optimize visual ad aspects.
